NHC Beers

Postby Drtanglebones on Sat Mar 13, 2010 11:36 am

OK so Chris and Rahr have donated 100# of American 2-row malt for NHC beers! Anyone who wants to use this for NHC beers--post here or e-mail me. I've got the bags at my place and do have a grain mill. Also please post here if you plan on brewing for NHC (yes even those who aren't going can send along beer.) We can do bottles, but kegs will be easier.

1) Eric 10 gallons of Mild, possibly a Rogue Shakespeare stout clone with the 2-row

2) Steven - 5 gallons of Scottish Export, I will need about 12 lbs of the 2-row.

If we need more, I would be willing to make a batch of something else, but I have not thought about what beer yet.

Just found this FAQ on another website. It essentialy says that we will need at least 6 corny kegs for either the Hospitality Suite or Club Night. And if we are doing both, then probably 12 corny kegs.

Several people replied to my AHA techtalk post about that. Sounds like 6-10 for the club night and about 5-10 for hospitality suite. Part of the suite depends on time of day--it can get pretty crazy if a bunch of the daytime lectures just let out, or be quiet if later at night.

If my trainwreck Pilsner somehow turns out, I'll put that up. Hope to brew a Maibock soon as well, I can offer that up as well. I need to get some cornies.

Chris (on Rahr's behalf) gave me 50 lb's of 6-row base malt to brew NHC beer with.
If anyone else wants some 6-row to do the same, let me know, this is more than I need.
I also stopped by midwest on saturday and they willingly donated 5 lbs of carmel 20
and 5lbs of Crystal 50-60. I plan on brewing my "MN Green Harvest Ale" although I will be using
dehydrated hops instead of fresh picked hops. recipe scroll down to batch 083
I was planning on providing 2 cases (48 bottles 12 oz). But since I was given this much malt
I am going to shoot for 4 cases (96 bottles 12 oz), unless someone claims some of this Malt.

We will need a sign mentioning Rahr and Midwest as "donating sponsors" for when we are pouring.
Kramer
WHAT IS IN KRAMER'S CARBOY ?
1.5 gals Red Rhubarb Wine in secondary
1.5 gals Red Rhubarb Wine, honey and yeast added in secondary
4 gals Juneteenth wine is bulk aging

Sounds good. I might grab some of the specialty malt once I formulate my recipe. I've also got plenty of 2row in the basement. MAybe Jim can make us a small sign for our sponsors...
