a.      Good to see a few new faces showing up for the meetings.

a.      Eric has set up a Jack of All Brews page on Facebook, check it out!  

3.      Competitions

a.      March Mashness:

·        Kent gets a gold for “Red Ire” (red ale)

·        Eric gets a gold for “Blossom” (mead), and 2 silvers for “Whiteout Stout (sweet stout) and Vader’s Eye (imperial stout)

·        Good job guys!

b.      AHA Club Only Extract Competition

·        Club selected Scott’s Winter Ale as our club entry

·        Must be submitted by May 2

·        August: Carver County Fair, Minnesota State Fair, AHA Club Only – Amber Hybrids

4.      Beer Wars – The Movie!

a.      There is a documentary about the beer brewing industry that will be shown live across the country on Thursday, April 16. Following the movie, a live forum with beer industry people and hosted by Ben Stein will be shown as well. This will be shown locally at the Eden Prairie AMC theaters (in the Eden Prairie Mall). Tickets are $18 and can be purchased online or at the theater. Several club members will be going, and will be meeting before at Old Chicago for some food and beer.

5.      BYO Subscription Drive

a.      Brew Your Own Magazine is conducting a subscription drive where half the subscription cost is returned to our club treasury. Need a minimum of 10 people to sign up, renewals accepted. We almost have enough to make this work, contact Eric if interested.

6.      Upcoming Club Style of the Month

a.      July: Saisons – open recipe, but should adhere as close to BJCP style guidelines as possible. Would like to do blind tasting.

b.      October: Oktoberfest/Marzen – open recipe.

7.      AHA Big Brew Day – May 2

a.      Saisons or Milds, see AHA website for details

8.      Presentation: Calibration by Chris

a.      Chris brought a jug of known gravity wort from Rahr, so everyone could calibrate their hydrometers and refractometers.

9.      Upcoming meetings/presentations:

a.      May: Brian Albright to host, JD to present on experimentation

b.      June: beer & cheese pairings?

c.       Aug or Sept: Ty & Andy have volunteered to host

d.      November: Dave to host and present on wood aged beers again
